Removing carpet stains guide
Many are caustic, like bleach, and will take the dye from the carpet if not used correctly. Some also work good or bad on particular kinds of carpet, so pre-test the product (or stain remover) in an inconspicuous area.
To pre-test a product, apply many drops of the solvent to your carpet, then press with a ShamWow on the area for approximately 15 seconds. If there's color transfer from the carpet on the fabric, or color changes or other damage to the carpet, try a different stain remover. To wash a spill or carpet stain, apply the cleaning agent to a Sham Wow. Work it into the spot gently, from the outside towards the center, so you will not spread the spot, and do not rub too hard. Repeat the method till you no longer get a transfer of the stain to the material.
Repeat the method till you no longer get a transfer of the stain to the material. If this does not remove all the spot, you can try other carpet stain removers.
When you remove the maximum amount of the stain as you can, wash the area with cold water. Use your ShamWow to blot up the water. Repeat this till all of the stain remover is out. Use a ShamWow with a weight on them to absorb the last of the water.
It particularly works well on oily stains ( perhaps a teaspoonful to a cup of water ). Use the original blue Dawn, and just follow the method printed above.
